Seit Jahrhunderten sind sie Friedens- und Liebessymbol, von Menschen gezüchtet dienten Stadttauben als Haustiere und Kommunikationsmittel. Heute werden sie von vielen verachtet, gejagt und getötet. Corona trifft auch die Tauben. Die Straßen sind weitgehend leer, sie finden kaum mehr Nahrung und drohen zu verhungern. Doch die Landeshauptstadt Kiel hat das Tierheim Uhlenkrog autorisiert, die Tauben während der Lockdowns mit artgerechtem Futter zu versorgen.

For centuries doves have been a symbol for peace and love, cultured by humans the city doves not only served as our pets but also as a means to communicate. Today, scorned by many they are hunted and killed. The corona virus affects the doves as well, since our streets are empty it is hard for them to find food and so they are in danger to die of hunger. Yet the state capital Kiel authorized the Kiel animal shelter to provide them with species-appropriate feed.
